USS Lawrence DDG-4

On the left, USS Lawrence DDG-4 is christened by Mrs.   Fernie C. Hubbard, during launching ceremonies at the New York Shipbuilding Corporation Shipyard, Camden, New Jersey, 27 February 1960. The middle photo was  taken immediately after launching. The photo on the right is the actual launching of DDG-4.

Operational and Building Data

    Originally classified as DD- 954, classification changed to DDG- 4 April 23 1957.
     Laid down by New York Shipbuilding on October 27 1958.
 Launched February 27 1960 and commissioned January 6 1962.
Decommissioned March 30 1990.
Stricken May 16 1990.

Fate

   Contract issued November 2003 to Metro Machine, Philadelphia for scrapping. Scrapping completed in October 2004.
