At the 2009 Charleston Reunion, your shipmates voted to fully support the Adams Class Museum Ship restoration efforts by sponsoring 3 Hull Plates in the ACVA's new Hull Restoration Fundraiser. The cost for two hull plates is $2500 and the third is $2000. No Assocations funds will be used towards the plates. Instead we are asking you our shipmates to mail in a tax deducatble donation to the ACVA that will be applied to a specific plate #. If you were a E-1 to E-6, donate to plate # S-4. If you were E-7 to E-9, donate to plate # P-4. That was the original hull number until the change to DDG-4. And if you are an officer on DDG-4 or a DD-250 crewmember, donate to plate # S-250. This is to honor our DD-250 members past and present. DDG-4 is going to have a large presense in the museum due to the larger amount of equipment obtained from her before dismantling. USS LAWRENCE ASSOCATION HULL PLATE DONATION FORM
Because several of our shipmates have purchased a Adams Class DDG ship model from BaD Ship Models, Keith Mullen, owner of Bad Ship Models, has graciously donated another ship model to raffle off in order to raise funds for our association. This is going to be given away according to the Pennsylvania Lottery's 3-digit Daily Number evening drawing on December 25, 2012. There will be a total of only 250 raffle tickets with 4 numbers on each ticket available for this drawing. All entries must be received by December 16, 2012. In the event that the winning number isn't sold, we will keep using the next evenings Daily Number until a winner is determined. If the winner of the model would like another class of ship instead of the Adams Class DDG, they may do so as long as it is of equal or lesser value than that of the Adams Class DDG. If they would like a more expensive model, the winner is responsible for the difference in price. This doesn't include battleship models as those kits are about $3000. The Adams Class Model is valued around $400. It can also be configured to the years that you served on board. Raffle tickets are only $5 each or 5 for $20. As a extra bonus, for every ship raffle ticket you purchase, you will receive one extra entry in to the 2013 Reunion Raffle. Since we would like to raise as much money as possible with this, the Lawrence Association is reserving the right to sell these raffle tickets to those outside our association. If you are a member of a VFW, American Legion, have former navy buddies, or know anyone else who may be interested in entering the raffle please give them a copy of the coupon below and have them mail it in. We will promptly mail them their raffle tickets. 50% of the proceeds from this raffle will go into our general operating fund and the other 50% will assist us in paying off our Hull Plate Sponsor ship for the Adams Class Museum. Once that is done, proceeds will go towards a brass plaque honoring all those who served on ships named Lawrence at the US Naval Memorial in Washington, DC.
